English Synthesis:

Each ‘indigents’ video clip addresses a (ambiguous) caricature questioning the status – social, identity and identifies – as well as its opposite, the appearance. I make simple parallels: A gentleman – puppet, precious curio, too elegant, ridiculous by dint to trying to be worthy and remarkable in ‘L’inopiné’; A tourist – cow-boy, son of a colonist of Africa, ridiculous by dint of simulating a comprehension of the territory in question in ‘Toubabou’s remains’; A street juggler – intoxicated, marginal, drunk and febrile, ridiculous by dint of trying to be identified as buffoon rather than unsociable in ‘Saltimbanco’. These parallels send us thinking about certain themes linked to alienation: am I really crazy, extravagant, unreasonable, alienated when I leave normality, the consensus or precisely when I seem to manage everything and when nothing fragile gets out of me?

Extracts from the texts presented with each video:

‘L’inopiné’ : (…) « A protagonist that bewitches in one moment, then forgets in the next one, abandoned to an invisible misfortune. A protagonist of the void, furnishing, adjusting airy tablecloths.”

‘Toubabou’s remains’ : (…) « All of a sudden, the scope of his ignorance arouses and reveals itself, reintegrating the trance that here seems welcome to him: what, in the place of belonging, passes here for a bare and absurd dance, between hysteria and comic farce.”

‘Santimbanco’ : (…) « The disaster world is far. Besides, he has never held on to anything but the edges, some seconds, gripping on to some understanding balustrade.”
